"Where's my chicken? I need it." - overheard in class last week.



Introduction: Hello everyone! My name is Tomoya, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25 for the second time. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing soccer, baseball, volleyball, badminton, basketball, playing outside and spending time with my friends.

The Rose: Our teacher candidate Mr. Teixeira had his final test, which was teaching us in front of his supervisor from his Nippising University. We were thrilled to hear that he passed with a score of 98. Now he has finished for the year and is working up in North Bay and getting paid to teach. Congratulations!

The Thorn: Our third and final teacher candidate, Mr. Teixeira left after being with us for a total of eight weeks. He first came in February for four weeks and left, but he got a chance to come back for another four weeks. We hope he has an amazing career for teaching. We will all miss him.

The Bud: A few people from our class are able to compete for regionals. The event includes long jump, triple jump, ball throw, 100, 400, 800, 1500m and relay. They are going next Tuesday (weather permitting). Good luck to them all. 

Literacy Leanings: We have been watching The Amazing Race - Season 35 as part of our Geography and Social Studies curriculum. We worked in groups to research locations where they would go. Most recently, a group presented information on Frankfurt, Germany. Next week my group will be presenting Kranj, Slovenia.

Math Mentions: In the Makerspace we made an object to protect a grape from the HAMMER OF SCIENCE. People made rectangular prisms, pyramids, and cylinders. The challenge was to make a protective shell that had the smallest volume and weight, but would protect the grape from the force of the hammer.

Sensational Science!: This week we started making arcade games out of cardboard that are playable by primary students! Some people are making Foosball, Slot Machines, Skee Ball, Claw Machines, Bowling, Ball Dropper, and Air Hockey. In a few weeks students from different classes and grades will visit our cardboard arcade to try them.

Health & Fitness: In the gym we like playing bench ball and Apache ball. These games are both a variant of dodgeball. The weather has been getting warmer and we have been going to the park for gym. We played kickball, or some people say soccer-baseball. We also get free time at the park and I play soccer with the other boys in the class.

#HClassBlog - Saqeef was drinking water out of a plastic bag - February 25, 2026

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Nishant, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing outside especially in the summer. Also, my favourite school subject other than gym is science. The Rose:  We had a great lesson from our Teacher Candidate (Student Teacher) Mr. Teixeira who is with us for four weeks from Nipissing University. His lesson was on POV (point of view). Throughout the week he taught us many lessons with care and effectiveness. Another lesson he introduced to us was Algebra, and we loved it.  Mr. Teixeira teaching us floor hockey last week. The Bud:  Our class is waiting for their Sweet Acts of Kindness Lollipops next week. The Sweet Acts of Kindness is a Grade 8 fundraiser that always takes place around Valentine’s Day. Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Hera, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy spending time with my friends, playing volleyball and practicing karate. The Rose: This week our class went to the park for our gym period! We had lots of fun playing soccer, volleyball and badminton outside and enjoyed the nice weather this week. The Thorn: Unfortunately, our classmate, Hadley, has been sick for a few weeks. We sent her some get well videos and are hoping she can come back soon! Feel better Hadley!  The Bud: Next week we have a school dance on Thursday, April 23rd.
