#HClassBlog - An Olympic Medal is Heavy - April 30, 2026

Introduction: 

Hello everyone! My name is Julia, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing soccer and going to the beach. 

The Rose:

This week we had an OLYMPIAN visit our school! Canadian curler Sarah Wilkes came to talk a little bit about herself and we were lucky enough to see her bronze medal. She shared stories about her training and the challenges her team faced in Milan and Cortina, Italy - including a snow storm that nearly stranded them in a bus on the way to a match.

The Bud:

Next week Mr. Teixeira, a teacher candidate, will return, we are all excited to have him back. He will be on his second placement from Nipissing University.

Literacy Leanings:

Last week we were introduced to our first small essay writing and we were looking forward to finalizing them. We were also learning about "thesis statements" to improve our writing skills. 

Math Mentions: This week the 7’s started learning about the surface area of a cylinder, the 6’s are preparing for their EQAO they will be starting very soon. Can you answer this question? 

Health & Fitness:

Track season! Since track is in two weeks our class decided to start practicing, on Wednesday we went outside for gym class and started working on our long jumps and triple jumps. But, we still had time for a few games in gym - like "three ball", one of our favourites.

Geography:

For geography this week the grade 7's have finished their "Landform Infographics" and their presentations with the 6’s, who looked at Canada's trading relationship with each country. Once we finish Mr. H will be revealing a new unit! Here is the infographic I made with my partner Saqeef on Bangkok, Thailand.

#HClassBlog - Saqeef was drinking water out of a plastic bag - February 25, 2026

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Nishant, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing outside especially in the summer. Also, my favourite school subject other than gym is science. The Rose:  We had a great lesson from our Teacher Candidate (Student Teacher) Mr. Teixeira who is with us for four weeks from Nipissing University. His lesson was on POV (point of view). Throughout the week he taught us many lessons with care and effectiveness. Another lesson he introduced to us was Algebra, and we loved it.  Mr. Teixeira teaching us floor hockey last week. The Bud:  Our class is waiting for their Sweet Acts of Kindness Lollipops next week. The Sweet Acts of Kindness is a Grade 8 fundraiser that always takes place around Valentine’s Day. #HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. The good news is that she is now qualified to be a teacher and she can get paid for her hard work. Maybe, one day, she could come back like Mr. Song did.
