#HClassBlog - "Saqeef has a Temu laugh" - March 31, 2026

Introduction: 

Hello everyone! My name is Maddox, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing hockey, fishing (especially), golfing, riding my dirt bike (and soon to be an e-bike), exploring, shopping, and hanging out with friends & family.

The Rose:

We learned that our old teacher candidate Mr. Teixeira was coming back to our class to help out again. Mr. Teixeira was our teacher candidate back in February for several months. He came to us from Nipissing University, and we are excited to welcome him back. 😀

The Thorn:

Most of the week we couldn't go on the field due to the muddy conditions that we've been having 😡. Lets hope it gets better.


The Bud:

Next week we are looking forward to Easter weekend 🎉. (HAPPY EASTER to anyone who is celebrating).

Literacy Leanings:

This week we were working on our Six word stories. We were challenged to summarize the best parts of our March Break into a six word story. Mine is below. We also tried a new twist on the two truths and a lie challenge by coding them Scratch. Here is mine. 

Math Mentions:

This week we have been working on Motion Geometry. So far, we have learned how to translate shapes on the Cartesian Plane. Fun Fact: Did you know the Cartesian plane is named after a French philosopher and mathematician named Rene Descartes. He was famous for the line, “I think, therefore I am”. Basically, he meant that we know we exist because we can think and, more importantly, doubt. 

Sensational Science!:

This week our grade 6s have been working on their flight unit with Mr. Campbell.

Health & Fitness

This week in the gym we have been playing Badminton and we've found out that we have some exceptional Badminton players in our class. Two players from our class made the school team – with more than 80 students trying out for 16 spots.

Geography: This week our grade 7s have learned about landforms with Mr. Hodgkinson while the 6’s are in Mr. Campbell’s class.

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. #HClassBlog - The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street - January 28, 2026

  Hello everyone! My name is Mohammed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 6 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy swimming and food.  The Rose: Last week we watched an episode of “The Twilight Zone” called “The Monsters are due on Maple Street”. This episode of the 1960s television series is about people getting suspicious and paranoid when electric devices and radios stop working after a meteor passes overhead. We connected it to our discussion of critical thinking and making decisions without all the information. We also compare it to a poem called “Witch Hunt” by Neil Peart.  We had leftover chips from our class party, so we got to eat those too. The Thorn: Our fellow classmate Jana is moving. #HClassBlog - Saqeef was drinking water out of a plastic bag - February 25, 2026

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Nishant, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing outside especially in the summer. Also, my favourite school subject other than gym is science. The Rose:  We had a great lesson from our Teacher Candidate (Student Teacher) Mr. Teixeira who is with us for four weeks from Nipissing University. His lesson was on POV (point of view). Throughout the week he taught us many lessons with care and effectiveness. Another lesson he introduced to us was Algebra, and we loved it.  Mr. Teixeira teaching us floor hockey last week. The Bud:  Our class is waiting for their Sweet Acts of Kindness Lollipops next week. The Sweet Acts of Kindness is a Grade 8 fundraiser that always takes place around Valentine’s Day.
