#HClassBlog - "Are You Egyptian" - overheard in French Class - March 9, 2026

Introduction: 

Hello everyone! My name is Tomoya, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade #7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing a lot of sports, like soccer, baseball, volleyball, basketball, and badminton. I also like playing video games with my friends.

The Rose:

We are finally hitting spring weather. (It may be a fake spring, but that's okay) It is getting warmer and snow is starting to melt. We can take our jackets and boots off and change to sweaters and shoes. Also, badminton tryouts started. We were eager for this to start.

The Thorn:

The thorn of this week was our teacher candidate leaving. He stayed with us for four weeks. For us and him, it felt more like 4 days. We will never forget him and the lessons he taught us.

The Bud:

Our bud is that March Break is coming up. After March break there are only three and a half months left of school. We are happy to move on to a new grade, some in grade 7 or 8. But we are also sad to leave this year behind. All our classmates, teacher, and room.

Literacy Leanings:

We learned and wrote about persuasive writing. We were asked to “Make Our Case” about something we felt strongly about. Our teacher candidate made lessons to help us. Our writing included five steps. First is the Thinking Stem, Fist Draft, RADaR, Final copy and RADaR again. These are the steps to make amazing writing in our class. The RADaR strategy is explained in the picture below.

Math Mentions:

We finished our Algebra with a quick quiz and there were a lot of perfect tests. Also, we learned how to code with variables. Here is my code.


Health & Fitness:

Badminton season starts. We practiced badminton, and played a game. We held a small tournament in class too. My team made the finals, but the bell rang and we’ll have to resume next gym class.  

Art :

We made Self Portrait Pixel Projects using Google Sheets. We colour in the spaces to make it look like us. It took us a lot of patience and time, but we enjoyed it. Check out mine.

Next Week:
Next week leads into March break so no one will write the blog. We’ll return in late March when Maddox writes it.

#HClassBlog - The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street - January 28, 2026

  Hello everyone! My name is Mohammed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 6 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy swimming and food.  The Rose: Last week we watched an episode of “The Twilight Zone” called “The Monsters are due on Maple Street”. This episode of the 1960s television series is about people getting suspicious and paranoid when electric devices and radios stop working after a meteor passes overhead. We connected it to our discussion of critical thinking and making decisions without all the information. We also compare it to a poem called “Witch Hunt” by Neil Peart.  We had leftover chips from our class party, so we got to eat those too. The Thorn: Our fellow classmate Jana is moving. #HClassBlog - Saqeef was drinking water out of a plastic bag - February 25, 2026

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Nishant, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing outside especially in the summer. Also, my favourite school subject other than gym is science. The Rose:  We had a great lesson from our Teacher Candidate (Student Teacher) Mr. Teixeira who is with us for four weeks from Nipissing University. His lesson was on POV (point of view). Throughout the week he taught us many lessons with care and effectiveness. Another lesson he introduced to us was Algebra, and we loved it.  Mr. Teixeira teaching us floor hockey last week. The Bud:  Our class is waiting for their Sweet Acts of Kindness Lollipops next week. The Sweet Acts of Kindness is a Grade 8 fundraiser that always takes place around Valentine’s Day.
