#HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction: 

Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family.

The Rose:

This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day. I would call that a HoliNAY because a plant has no idea it is a holiday. Sure, botanists and plant lovers might want to celebrate this day; but I think they celebrate plants every day, it is silly to celebrate Carnivorous plants.

The Thorn:

While our class was outside playing  Unfortunately, Yaksh, one of our classmates, fell off the climber.  He had to get stitches, but  is recovering. We joked that he now has a “good story” to explain the small scar that will remain.

The Bud:

I'm overjoyed about the upcoming field trip for all band members. We are all going to be performing a music piece at Banting High School with over a hundred other musicians from several schools. We are all practicing the same piece of music called A Prehistoric Suite. I just can't believe that our  band has only been playing since October, and we are already sounding fabulous! I play saxophone, but Ms. Rees asked me to switch to bells for this for this term.

Math Mentions:

This week, we were diving into stocks. Our class tried a stock market challenge, which was fun trying something new. Learning about stocks at this age is a great learning opportunity so when you want to invest in stocks, you will have more knowledge of them. Unfortunately, we all invested our “fake money” before Donald Trump announced his tariffs. We all have lost a lot of our investments and are hoping they will rebound this week.

Gym Glimpse:

This week's gym class was spectacular! We played many varieties of activities, such as up dodgeball, doctor dodgeball, and my personal favorite, handball. It’s always wonderful seeing everyone participate in all these exciting activities.

  Introduction:  Hello, my name is Takshi! This week I will write the blog for #HClass24. I like playing the guitar, reading, writing, and scrapbooking. The Rose:  This Wednesday, we went to Saint Andre Bessette High School to see Grease Jr. It was a great musical and the class loved the songs. The actors were exceptionally good and what surprised me the most was the live band also made up of high school students! The band was behind the set, though you could still see it. Overall, the class loved the performance! The Thorn:   Our Thorn of The Week was the cold weather. Unfortunately, it’s extremely windy and cold outside. It also started to snow on Thursday! The temperatures have dropped into the negatives and the wind has picked up quickly.  The Bud: We will get another chance to hang out with our Kindergarten Buddies on Monday. #HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. The good news is that she is now qualified to be a teacher and she can get paid for her hard work. Maybe, one day, she could come back like Mr. Song did.
