#HClassBlog - "A gorilla is tough, but it is not a predator" - November 28, 2024

 Introduction: 

Hello, my name is Arya! and this week I will write the blog for #HClass24. I like drawing, tennis, and playing the violin. I also think I'm very creative.

The Rose: 

This Friday we had the raffle! Every 6 weeks, or so, Mr. Hodgkinson will draw tickets. Students have earned potential matching tickets by getting work done and returning things on time. We also win them with random games and in team activities. So, the better organized you are, the more tickets you probably have. The prizes include chocolate bars, candy, pop and fun stickers.

The Thorn: 

We had an excellent week so we didn’t have a thorn!


The Bud:

Next week we will be going on a field trip to the nearby high school, Saint Andre Bessette to watch a musical. It is called Grease Jr.  and it is a high school version of the 1972 Broadway musical.

Math Mentions: 

We are finishing up our percentage of a number unit in math. If you convert the percentage to a decimal, and multiply it by the number, you get what the percentage of it is. See if you can try to solve this!

Gym Glimpse:

This week our student teacher Mr. Haas taught us a new game called Mafia Ball. To play it, everyone gets split up into four teams and each team is given one ball. When the game starts, ball carriers attempt to eliminate people not on their team by throwing the soft ball and hitting them.  The game is similar to dodgeball where if someone from your team caught the ball in mid air, everyone on the team would get back into the game. The last team standing wins! The class loves this game because of its similarity to dodgeball and the ability to work as a team to be successful.  

Science Salute:

In science Mr. Haas gave his very first lesson and it was on Apex Predators. We found out about the top 10 most dangerous predators. We started a new research and Shapegram project about it! You’ll see an example next week.

Art Admires:

The class has started a new art project called graffiti art! We followed a tutorial on how to draw our names in a cool font and some have even chosen to do other fonts and going above and beyond! Here is my finished project.

  Introduction:  Hello, my name is Takshi! This week I will write the blog for #HClass24. I like playing the guitar, reading, writing, and scrapbooking. The Rose:  This Wednesday, we went to Saint Andre Bessette High School to see Grease Jr. It was a great musical and the class loved the songs. The actors were exceptionally good and what surprised me the most was the live band also made up of high school students! The band was behind the set, though you could still see it. Overall, the class loved the performance! The Thorn:   Our Thorn of The Week was the cold weather. Unfortunately, it’s extremely windy and cold outside. It also started to snow on Thursday! The temperatures have dropped into the negatives and the wind has picked up quickly.  The Bud: We will get another chance to hang out with our Kindergarten Buddies on Monday. #HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. The good news is that she is now qualified to be a teacher and she can get paid for her hard work. Maybe, one day, she could come back like Mr. Song did. #HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family. The Rose: This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day.
