#HClass24 - "Why Remember? We Must Remember." - November 21, 2024

 Introduction:

Hello, my name is Arfa! and this week I will write the blog for #HClass24. I love playing volleyball with friends. I also love shopping and making art.

The Rose:
We all were  excited because Friday was a PD day which means we had a short week. Unfortunately, not for Mr. Hodgkinson, he had to be at the school for parent meetings. However, he says he looks forward to that because he likes meeting our parents to discuss our progress. Our short week went well, and we had a 4 day long weekend!

We also got to show our Why Remember? video at the Remembrance Day assembly. We all worked hard on it, remembering our lines, filming them and editing together a video to show that we understand the meaning of Remembrance Day -- so we were proud. You can see it here.

The Thorn:

Our week was so short that we didn’t actually have a thorn!

The Bud:

Next week, Mr. Haas, our new Teacher Candidate from Western teaches his first lesson ever. I am sure he will do a great job.

Math Mentions:

We started a new topic which is converting decimals, fractions and percentages. It’s kind of a lot, but most of it is review. Some people (like me) don't have a great understanding, but Mr. Hodgkinson is helping everyone get there. Could you solve this problem?

Gym:

In the gym we played a game called “Gladiator”. It was a tournament style game with players going head-to-head to avoid elimination. Each player is given a pool noodle and a badminton racket that they are balancing a bean bag on. The object of the game is to use the pool noodle to knock the bean bag off the other person's racket. However, this takes patience...or your own bean bag will get knocked off, or fall. It's a good game for learning to maintain balance, focus and multitasking.

Anakin, on the right, was the eventual champion.

Geography:

Almost everyone has finished their relative location project, which included their design of a Shapegram house! We were asked to describe a place of "spatial significance" to someone familiar and less familiar with London, Ontario. However, we should not give away a specific location -- especially if we picked our own home. Here is an example from Irene.

Next Week:

Arya will write the blog!
