#HClassBlog - I feel so snickerdoodle." June 4, 2024
Quote: “I feel so snickerdoodle.” Said by Krishi made up on the spot.
Introduction:
Hey everyone and welcome to this week's blog. My name is A.R. and I like to play soccer. I also enjoy competing on FIFA, a soccer video game.
Rose:
The rose for last week happened during our time in the maker space. The maker space is part of our library where we have access to hands-on tools we can use to create things. Last week, we worked on duct tape wallets.
Some of the duct tape wallets we have made.
We decided to make it a challenge as part of our Form and Function Unit in Science. Each team (we have 6 teams in the classroom) put their best wallet into a competition to be judged by the Grade 6 teachers. and the The best wallet belonged to Hana and gave her team, The MVP’s, 60 points. The judges did not know who made which wallet, so it was fair.
Thorn:
The thorn of this week was, sadly, our cancellation of the Genius Hour gallery we had planned. We all worked hard on our Genius Hour projects but several students lost their work when our email addresses were changed and the projects they had completed on a program called Canva were deleted. Mr. Hodgkinson spent two weeks trying to recover the assignments – and he is still trying. Eventually, as a class, we decided that we should cancel for this year and just share our projects with our parents on our own. The project kept getting postponed until sadly we canceled it and the only people who are gonna see it live is our class. So there will be no “Gallery Walk”.
Bud:
Next week we will be finishing off Netflix a Book project with plenty of work time and we will be all done with our beautiful mosaic art which people are dying to see.
Here's an example of our Digital Mosaics from Callen.
Math Mentions: In math lately we have been doing probability and learning about how useful it is in life which, surprisingly, it is. Next week, we will use the Scratch program to code a coin flipper, dice roller or make a slot machine.
Student Appreciation:
This week the student we appreciate is Brandon. Brandon is so smart and he’s always making people laugh and the amount of inside jokes people have with him is crazy he's just so cool and likable.
In the following week, Seyfuddin will be writing our class blog.
