“You always remember your last placement” said by Ms. Finalyson on her last placement in this class.
Introduction:
Hey guys and welcome to this week's blog, my name is Dany and I like to play a lot of sports and one of my favourite is soccer, I also play my saxophone in our school's band.
On Friday, It was our student teacher, Miss Finlayson’s, last day . It was also her last day in college, so she is officially a teacher now. To celebrate her achievement we all had an easy and fun day where we played outside, had a raffle and watched Freaks and Geeks. She also brought us all in donuts as a treat.Thorn:
Even though we all had fun on Friday, we still had to say goodbye to Ms. Finlayson. It was sad to see her leave after being with us for a long time, but she still might be able to supply for us later in the future. She has already been put on the supply teacher list and we look forward to having her as a guest teacher soon. Mr. Hodgkinson promised he would call her first if he needs someone to cover for him.Bud:
We are having our last two Genius Hour work periods next week, we have all been working very hard on our projects and we are very excited to present them. We will be inviting parents and members of our school community to visit our class for a “Gallery Walk” in early May.
Math Mentions:
Over the past couple weeks our student teacher Ms. Finlayson has been teaching us about Surface area and volume of a cylinder, even though it's hard, after a couple lessons we have gotten the hang of it and we are ready for the math test in May.
History:
We have been put into partnerships to study and research different Canadians who have been featured in an old television series called “The Heritage Minute” Heritage Minute are one minute long videos that explain a bit about explorers and Canadian history. Each partnership has been assigned a video to research and present. We will show the video and then fill in some additional information. I worked with Christian and we presented our video on John Cabot - here’s the link to our slideshow Art:
This week featured two art projects, one being circle art which consisted of making abstract lines and circles with a compass and a ruler. Here are a couple from Ramsha and Sameeksha. The second was called Squart, it is made in a coding program called Scratch. We created a code to draw a square and then changed the angle slightly. When this is repeated, it creates a type of spiral art. If done right, the results are symmetrical and beautiful. Here is mine.Student Appreciation:
This week we are celebrating Kingston. He is a fun and funny guy who is really athletic. He plays competitive hockey and recently made our school Slo-Pitch Team.,
