#HClassBlog - "What's Up Jequavious!?" - April 18, 2024
Quote: “What's up Jequavious!?” said Dany as he dabbed-up our invisible classmate.
Introduction:
Hi friends, families and peers, my name is Hana and I’m writing the weekly blog for our class. I like to swim, read, and learn math. I also enjoy running, track, and other sports. Outside of school, I do competitive swimming in a team called LAC (London Aquatic Centre). I also play flute in our school band who, by the way, are starting to sound amazing. We are currently preparing for the Spring Concert. It is a Movies Theme. We are playing sections from Beauty and The Beast, and Pirates of the Caribbean as well as Eye of the Tiger from Survivor. It was in the movie Rocky.
Rose:
This week, we had an eclipse so we had a day off. We also had our first Genius Hour. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Genius Hour is, it is a chance for each of us to be provided class time to create a passion project. Mr. Hodgkinson has given us 4-6 hours of independent time to create something we are passionate about. We will have a “Genius Hour Gallery” in May and are inviting our parents and other members of the school community.
Thorn:
It was a four day week with no thorn.
Bud:
This week's bud is looking forward to creating Earth Day crafts with our buddies. Another bud will come on Tuesday and Wednesday when Mr. Hodgkinson is working as a mentor at another school. As a result, our teacher candidate Mrs. Finlyason will get to run the class without him.
Math Mentions:
This week we reviewed the surface area of rectangular and triangular prisms. These are taught in Grade 5 and 6, but we all needed a refresher before moving on to cylinders next week. We also used the program Knowledgehook to help us practice.
The note from our digital math journal.
Science:
We are nearly finished with our Heat unit. Mr. Hodgkinson is letting us decide what questions should be on the unit test. We will then use the study tools we have available to prepare for it. Next up, it’s Form and Function.
Student Appreciation:
This week we are celebrating Sameeksha. She is always doing outstanding work, especially her art. She is also a calm, kind member of our classroom community.
In the following week, Dany will be writing our class blog.
