Introduction: 

Hi, I’m Brandon, I enjoy playing video games, soccer, volleyball and drawing. My favourite subjects are math, gym and French. I will be writing this week's blog.

Rose: 

 Valentine's Day is about celebrating with your loved ones. Some people send notes or cards to a person, to family, friends and people that they’re into. But that's not what our class did at school. To celebrate Valentine’s day, some of our classmates handed our delicious treat to everyone while we were doing the raffle with some people winning drinks, candy, snacks and other prizes. We earn the tickets weekly by completing work and winning (somewhat) random games.

Perfect to go with the story we have been watching as a class for the past couple of weeks. It is a dramedy show that has many twists and turns that you wouldn't expect. It focuses on teenagers facing different situations dealing with the reality of being stuck between childhood and adulthood. So, In my opinion, I think that Wednesday, Valentine’s Day, was the best day of the week and we had a lot of fun.


Thorn: 

A few of our classmates made the Boys Volleyball Team, including me. Our team participated in the Cedar Hollow/ Stoney Creek tournament - called “The Beast of The East”. At Cedar Hollow our team won twice and lost once, but qualified for  the playoffs at Stoney Creek. Sadly, we lost  against Sherwood in a close match.. Despite that loss,  it was a great week with no thorns.


Bud: 

Next week, our school will be doing a fundraiser for the “Humana Community Services.” It goes towards children struggling with mental health. The fundraiser is called “A Sweet Act Of Kindness.” Every dollar you donate allows you to send a candy "gift" to someone you know...or yourself.

Math Mentions: 

This week we completed half of our Flashback. For those who don’t know. A Flashback is a review of our work and snapshot of how we are doing that we write every other Friday. We covered a lot of math on it, including motion geometry, rates, taxes and discounts. An example of (part of) the front page is below.

Literacy 

We are also working on an activity called Holiday or Holinay. Did you know that every day on the calendar has holidays associated with it. We noticed that some are important or meaningful (HOLIDAYS) and some are just plain dumb (HOLINAYS). Our task is to pick a date and use this website (Checkiday.com) to prepare a short presentation on the holidays we think are legitimate and the ones we think are silly. We use a soundboard to punctuate our presentation with theme songs and sound effect stingers.

Student Appreciation Of: 

This week I would like to appreciate Ria! For Valentine’s Day, Ria gave our whole class pencils and candy. Our class has a habit of losing our pencils, so that will help us a lot!

#HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. #HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family. The Rose: This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day.
