Welcome back to another blog article from Mr. H's class. Hello, I'm Lujain. I am writing the blog this week, and I hope you enjoy it. I'm a huge soccer fan, especially of the Spanish club "Real Madrid C.F." I am also a big fan of Ronaldo. I enjoy spending time outside with friends and family. The Rose:
This week, we finally had a snowstorm. That's an amazing thing since we haven't had any snow this winter, and now guess what? We have! We can now play outside, create a snowman, and drink hot chocolate with family. The Thorn:
Unfortunately, because the temperatures were below -10. The office chose to have inside recess instead of outside time. This has happened much too often and my classmates are tired of it. We think that we are safe in this weather. We are okay with twenty to twenty-five minutes in chilly weather, but perhaps the younger students should stay inside. We are Canadians, after all. Mr. Hodgkinson let us go out for a 10 minute break during the day...and we survived!!The Bud:
The band and choir performed in a Winter Wonderland Concert before the break. Finally, after a lot of waiting and patience, band practices will begin in about a week.

This week, we have been working on a lot of projects that involve the #OneWord2024 challenge. Our #OneWord was placed inside a Shapegram Snow Globe that we made. To get the right image, this calls for an ability to use layers and transparent colouring. If you do it correctly, it looks like snow is falling both in front and behind the word in the Globe. We were then asked to explain our choice for #OneWord. Our focus has been to create introductions and conclusions. This week, we focused on "The Button," a one-line closing statement. It may be funny, but it tells the reader that you're done.

We have an extremely enjoyable assignment that we are working on right now. The goal is to create a visually appealing presentation about a great cup of hot chocolate. Food prices are the root for the calculation. We have to calculate the cost of our ingredients per unit in order to do this. Since we are unable to use prepackaged mixes, we are looking at recipe ideas. For example, if I purchase a 2 kg bag of sugar for $2.79 and use ¼ of a cup for my hot chocolate, what is the unit cost of the sugar I use? This is referred to as "food cost" in the restaurant industry. This video was our inspiration. After developing our recipes, we decide on the selling price.Geography Gems:
We took a test in geography covering longitude, latitude, and other topics. The majority of students did extremely well on the exam, with some earning perfect scores. We give thanks to Mr. H for creating a "Blooket" for us to study from. Blooket (pronounced Blue-Kit) is a web-based, game platform where the questions from the test give you points to win a variety of fun and challenging games.

We completed the Geography test on a Google Form rather than on paper, which was much easier because we didn't have to take time to find our pencil. We also got our results as soon as we finished.
Student Appreciation:
We choose a student each week to show our appreciation for, and this week it's Dany. We appreciate Dany because every day, before the bell for home time, Dany cleans up the floor. He always sweeps the floors in our classroom to keep it clean. This helps the custodians get a head start on the hard work they do every day.Next week it is Ria taking care of our blog post. Be sure to tune in. Thanks for reading.
