Introduction ~
Hello, my name is Tala and I am proud to be writing this week's blog -- the final post of 2022. My favorite subjects are literacy and health and my favorite sports include basketball, badminton and tennis.

The Rose ~
We had our winter concert last Friday. The people in the band and choir did an amazing job. The choir sang their hearts out and the band played incredibly well. You could really feel the passion as they made beautiful music.

The Thorn ~
Unfortunately, we sadly did not have the chance to do any sports inside of the gym because of the winter concert.
• • •Phys Ed ~
We did get gym outside and got to play lacrosse. For many people in our class, It was their first time playing the sport. The objective for us was to do a rally, by throwing the ball and catching it inside our lacrosse stick. Anvi, Mariam Karthika and I got a high score of seven. Considering the fact that this was our first time ever playing lacrosse it was a remarkable achievement.

The Bud ~
Most of us are looking forward to the winter break coming up. We have worked hard these past couple months and deserve two weeks off school. Many of us have some exciting activities planned already.
• • •In drama, we had the task of going to different classes and teaching them about the performance technique of tableaux vivant.
To perform a tableaux, a group memorizes short lines from a performance (in this case Elf :The Musical). As each performer delivers their line they freeze in a meaningful, dramatic pose that represents their line.
When all performers are done, a living statue (hence tableaux vivant) is formed. See the example below. We learned how to do this in September, so it was our turn to take on a leadership role and share the activity with other classes who are also going to “Elf” on Thursday.
I was in a group with Yara, Karthika, Anvi, and Yashvi. We had the opportunity to go to Ms. Anderson's class. The kids were incredibly kind and full of energy. Everyone in the class delivered their lines with enthusiasm and excitement.

Science~
In science, we are currently germinating cherry seeds. We ate cherries to get to the pit, cracked the pit to get to the seed and then wrapped them in wet paper towel and tin foil. We also sprinkled them with cinnamon to prevent mold. It will take a month for them to germinate, so we stored them in a cool, dark place (the staff room fridge at school). No worries because by the time we come back from our winter break, hopefully, they will have sprouted as seedlings. . I am very excited to start growing my own cherry tree. I am hopeful that my tree will grow and produce some fruit.
• • •In preparation for January, we have been watching episodes of a Masterclass about hip-hop. Our instructor is the legendary Nas who is considered one of the greatest rap artists and musicians of all time.
We learned about perfect and near rhyme, rhyming patterns and internal vs end rhyme as well as a brief history of hip hop. My favourite song we looked at was one of the first ever, The Breaks, by Kurtis Blow. Thanks for reading…See you in 2023
