Introduction ~ 

Hey there I’m Doshisha! I’ll be writing the blog this week. I absolutely love playing any sport and love dancing too! I love to do both and life without those hobbies would be pretty dull for me!

The Rose ~

We got a chance to read with the Grade 1s who made our wreath for us. We also brought them a Tootsie Roll treat. The Grade 1 class was really excited to see us and happy about the treat. Our class enjoyed it very much too.

The Thorn ~

Unfortunately, I was away on the day we met with the Grade 1 class and I had really been looking forward to it.

The Bud ~

This week’s bud is that we are going to see sections from the film “Elf”. We have been reading the script for the musical version we will see in late December and now we can compare it to the movie version. I have never seen “Elf” before or a musical, so I am excited about both.

Mathematical Mentions ~


This week in math we continued to learn about scatter plots. Here is an example we looked at. Did you know there is a positive correlation between temperature and the amount of ice cream sold by Dairy Queen? That makes sense, as the temperature gets warmer, people want more ice cream.

Phys. Ed. mixed with Literacy ~


We started to write our own report cards for Phys. Ed. using a list of pre-made comments that Mr. Hodgkinson provided for us. It was our job to

  • adjust the adjective and adverbs to describe our own progress
  • celebrate our biggest growth in learning and
  • the next steps we plan for term two.
Mr. Hodgkinson says that we should be involved in this process because we are in Grade 7. Next, we will meet to discuss our comments and “mutually agree” on a grade. I like that we are involved in this.

Geography~


We are all selecting places that are “Spatially Significant” to us or to the world. We will be making short Google videos about these places after we do some research on their “Absolute” and “Relative” location. Look to see some examples in a future blog.

The Rose:  This Wednesday, we went to Saint Andre Bessette High School to see Grease Jr. It was a great musical and the class loved the songs. The actors were exceptionally good and what surprised me the most was the live band also made up of high school students! The band was behind the set, though you could still see it. Overall, the class loved the performance! The Thorn:   Our Thorn of The Week was the cold weather. Unfortunately, it’s extremely windy and cold outside. It also started to snow on Thursday! #HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. The good news is that she is now qualified to be a teacher and she can get paid for her hard work. Maybe, one day, she could come back like Mr. Song did. #HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family. The Rose: This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day. I would call that a HoliNAY because a plant has no idea it is a holiday. Sure, botanists and plant lovers might want to celebrate this day; but I think the...
