#HClassBlog - "Sameed is funny a third of the time" - November 22, 2022
Classroom Quote of the week:
“Sameed is funny a third of the time”! A hilarious insult said to Sameed!

Introduction ~ Hey there I’m Karthika! I’ll be writing the blog this week. I absolutely love to draw and paint! I just can’t live without doing this, my one favourite hobby. Life without art would be pretty grey for me as someone who loves art!

Another one of my favourite hobbies is to play volleyball with my team and friends! Speaking of volleyball, guess what happened!

And even better, most of the winners were in our class! Sadly though, volleyball intramurals are over now, but that's ok! I think everyone had lots of fun! PS: I'm the one in the mask!!

The Thorn ~
Unfortunately we had a strike, we all thought that there would be no school on Monday but, surprise surprise! Monday turned out to become a school day! I was excited to return and so were most of my classmates -- we mostly agree that learning online isn't nearly as fun.

The Bud ~
Our entire class is looking forward to meeting the grade ones who helped create a wreath for us on Remembrance Day! We were so busy with so many things that we thought we might have to buy one. However, Ms. Turner's class offered to make one for us and we proudly took it to the stage during the Remembrance Day Assembly. Soon, our class will partner with the grade ones and let them read to us. We will also share a small treat with them! ( A Tootsie Roll)! I am sure Doshisha will post some pictures on next week's blog.

Mathematical Mentions ~
We’ve been learning to find the area and circumference of a circle. Who knew finding the area and circumference was so simple! We had a quick “test” on Monday and we selected our own challenge level. There were four questions, one was at grade level, the next slightly more challenging, the third was very challenging and the final one required recalling plenty of previous math knowledge. Can you solve it? Five students in our class could.
We also did some coding, we learned to animate our names using Scratch, I find coding quite fun now that I have learned more about it! Here is my example.

Literacy Leanings ~
This week we had a sort of Drama & Literacy mix, we performed a "table read" using sections from the script to the Musical Elf (which we will be seeing at The Grand Theatre in exactly one month) Everybody did a really good job! Who knew we had such good actors in our classroom?!
Santa & Buddy from The Grand Performance
we will see in one month.

Geography~
This week we learned more deep and complex geography. We started to learn about Longitude and Latitude. Lines of longitude are those imaginary lines (also called meridians) that vertically divide the earth into sections. On the other hand, latitude are the lines that go around the earth horizontally – sometimes called parallels. The middle line of latitude is called the Equator (the hottest place on earth)!

Physical Education
This week we played a ton of fun games for gym! A few of the class favourites were, Pinball, Apache Ball and Bank Heist. Our class absolutely loved these games! Personally my favourite was Bank Heist. In this game, partners push each other on scooters in order to reach the "bank vault". Then, they retrieve the loot (beanbag) and try to make it back to the hideout, using obstacles in the gym as "cover". However, the police line the sides of the gym and are throwing dodgeballs in an effort to stop this "heist". I had such a fun time playing this game!
