 Introduction ~

Hello, my name is Kaua. I’d like to introduce myself. I am from Brazil originally - my name is pronounced "Cow-Ah".  My favourite subject is math and I enjoy playing video games and American football with friends. Unfortunately, this is going to be the final blog of the year. Did you know that we wrote 18 blogs as a class this year?

The Rose ~

This week we did literacy through memes. We went to the Meme Generator and made four memes, each one to represent the four different quarters in our school year (Autumn, Winter, Early and Late Spring). We also made memes for next year’s Grade 7 class to give them advice and inspiration on how to succeed in Grade 7 and with Mr. Hodgkinson. Mine is below - I enlarged one of them to make it easier for you to read.


The Thorn ~

After 5 years of Mr. Jamieson being our music teacher. He is unfortunately leaving Sir Arthur Currie, so he could teach another school that has never had a grade 7-8 music teacher before. He will have the opportunity to educate them and make his dream come true by forming a band.

The Bud ~

Finally after 2+ years without field trips, we got a chance to go on a an end-of-the-year celebration outside school I would like to give thanks to Mr. Perkins, Mrs. Fassinelli and Mr Hodgkinson for this. We’re going to “Fleetway ''. A bowling/arcade/mini golf place that is connected to a Dairy Queen and a Pizza place called Projekt Pizza. All of the grade 7 students are welcome to attend.

Our class have been watching the series Lost since April and we just finished episode 22 this week so there's three more to go and they are called Exodus 1, 2 and 3. It is the 3-part Season Finale. We ae all excited to see how it turns out. We have learned a lot about writing and storytelling when doing this unit.

History Mentions ~

Since last week we have worked on a project called CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure). Our goal was to research one of the battles that happened in 1812 and create a choose your own adventure game that anyone could play and have fun.

Mathematical Mentions ~ Integers

For this week in math we have been learning about Integers. How to add, subtract, multiply and divide them. We did a few activities on them and it seems that everyone is understanding them quite fast.

We are also learning about probability and we are building a coin flipper with Scratch coding.

The Rose:  This Wednesday, we went to Saint Andre Bessette High School to see Grease Jr. It was a great musical and the class loved the songs. The actors were exceptionally good and what surprised me the most was the live band also made up of high school students! The band was behind the set, though you could still see it. Overall, the class loved the performance! The Thorn:   Our Thorn of The Week was the cold weather. Unfortunately, it’s extremely windy and cold outside. It also started to snow on Thursday! #HClassBlog - "Mr. Song's Moustache" - April 21, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Anakin, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing golf, playing video games and sketching. I am more introverted so I prefer being by myself. The Rose:  We have enjoyed three, 4-day weeks in a row because of Easter and a PD Day. So, we got a nice long break from school and some short weeks in-between. It had to be the best part of this month so far. We also had our first Dance/Social on Friday. It was a lot of fun. Me and Taym trying some dance moves. The Thorn:  Unfortunately, our student teacher Mrs. Seaby has left us. She finished her placement with our class. The good news is that she is now qualified to be a teacher and she can get paid for her hard work. Maybe, one day, she could come back like Mr. Song did. #HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family. The Rose: This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day.
