Classroom Quote of the week: "
What is happening to our March Break?" - overheard from several students when the news that the Provincial government was planning to move March Break to the second week of April.

All about me: i am a great wryter and i can spell good. I'm kidding of course. My name is Majdoulyne, but my friends call me May May. I like reading, writing and anime.

Songs of the week: We continued our daily Bop or Flop challenges after leaving remote learning in January. We have been inspired by the television show Wandavision to do some time-travelling and focus on a different decade each week.

We've already done the 50s & 60s. The past two weeks were the 70s and 80s.

Here's the list: (Bops in Blue, Flops in Green)
Dancing Queen                            ABBA
Blitzkrieg Bop                               Ramones
Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough     Michael Jackson
Sweet Home Alabama                  Lynyrd Skynyrd
YMCA                                           Village People
Never Gonna Give You Up           Rick Astley
I Love Rock & Roll                        Joan Jett
Sweet Child O' Mine                     Guns & Roses
Hungry Like The Wolf                   Duran Duran

The Best Thing About This Week {The Rose}: On Friday, we celebrated Valentine's Day and had a potluck. Well, because of Covid protocols, students brought individually packaged snacks to share. It was a lot of sugary delciciousness.

We all socialized, played some music, and appreciated a well-deserved break.  Everybody enjoyed their time and it was a great way to head into the Family Day long weekend.

The Worst Thing About This Week {The Thorn}: Last week, we entered an Attractions Ontario Contest to win a free Virtual Field Trip.  Unfortunately, the contest has been extended an extra two weeks which will mean we will hear much later than anticipated. Additionally, due to this delay, there will most likely be more applications. Luckily, we have already submitted an oil painting of the central park made by Carmona.

Mathematic Mentions: We started working on our Finance Literacy Projects, in which we had to research a specific country and plan our flights, food, luggage, hotels, and transportation. Then after we have completed making our slides aesthetically appealing, we exchange our total to the appropriate currency of the country we have chosen. This is the one I completed with Afsa - we planned a trip to Tokyo, Japan.
Literacy Links: We've officially finished the TV-Series, Freaks and Geeks! The show is about high-school teenagers figuring out who they are, what they want to be, and where they belong. It addresses so many of the expectations in our Health curriculum and we have had great discussions about the characters on the show and the situations they face in High School in 1980.
Mr.Hodgkinson distributed a survey through Google Forms and asked us to answer the questions in a descriptive manner. A particular question we had to keep our attention on was: "Which of the characters do you identify with the most?" I wrote about my connection to both Lindsay and Daniel. You can read it here.

We are still reading Ready Player One and this week we learned about Six Word Stories.  We tried to summarize our Family Day Weekend in six words and we'll be posting our first attempts next week.

Gym: We have been playing badminton in gym. After learning the rules and practicing our racket skills with soft balls, we began holding  tournaments. It's a lot of fun and we are actually getting good at it. The rallies last a long time now and are quite competitive.
