Song of the Week: -None - we were missing many students all week and just did our Music Tournament instead.
All about me
My name is Jaspinder, I am a new student at this school. I prefer for my classmates to call me Jazzy. I like playing soccer and Among Us. Those are my favourite activities and my favourite candy is Sour Patch Kids.
The Best Thing About This Week (The Rose)
Since we had fewer students this week (some days only nine), our teacher Mr.Hodgkinson had more one-on-one time with us. We are getting through most of our work.
The Worst Thing About This Week (The Thorn)
We couldn’t get through everything because two Covid cases struck our school and parents were understandably worried about the health and safety of the children. Therefore, many didn’t send them to school. So we laid back on some things to wait for the missing students. We didn’t want to get ahead and exclude or have to do too many things over.
Mathematic Mentions
This week we worked on decimal addition and using more than one strategy to solve a word problem or an equation.
We have also started using a program called Shapegrams which allows us to make objects using shapes. Therefore, we are learning geometry.
Literacy Links
After waiting a week, we finally started our novel Prairie Lotus. We are participating in the Global Read Aloud, so many schools all over the world are also reading it. This includes the students we met during our Mystery Meets. They are in Tampa Bay, Florida and Delton, Michigan.
The Arts
Shapegrams are also art and we remixed the original program to create our own house designs. You can see them at our Class Website.
What are we looking forward to? (The Bud)
We are looking forward to getting all of our students back. On Monday, we were back up to 18, but still missing a few. Once the final number settles, we can continue our work that we have missed or have delayed.
Quote of the Week
We didn’t choose one this week. Too few students were away.
