#HClassBlog - Who wants to play this game with me? - February 10, 2026

 Introduction: 

Hello everyone! My name is Ahmed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7# student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy sports, video games, history and reading.

The Rose:


One of the best things this week at Sir Arthur Currie was Global School Play Day (GSPD) which we celebrated on February 4. GSPD is a day where we got to play all day. We were not allowed any screens or digital devices and encouraged to have a lot of fun. If you would like to learn more click this link.

The Thorn:

The worst thing this week at our school was the fact that we had barely any outdoor recesses which means the entire week we had to stay inside with minimal gym periods. GSPD helped to make it a little easier to not cause trouble in the classroom but it is only one day.

The Bud:

The thing we all are excited for is the Carnaval introduction next week. On Wednesday, we will have an assembly in the gym to find our teams. Meeting our groups and making a small cheer for a treat. Then we will go outside for a tour about the stations we will use for Carnaval. It involves a little bit of French and a whole lot of fun to play the Carnaval games. As grade 7 students, we will be responsible for running the games and making a good time for everyone. We also have a new Teacher Candidate arriving from Nipissing University.

Literacy Leanings:


We started unit eleven this week in our digital spelling book. Unit eleven includes using synonyms and learning new definitions like peak and pinnacle. We also tried our luck at getting one of our vocabulary words on the #YourWordWednesday segment on CNN10 which is an event every Wednesday on our daily news channel.

Math Mentions:

This week in math we are learning and studying about interest rates. Interest rates are taking a normal price and adding interest to it which also leads to what we learned the week before which was about the interest on the credit card which adds up over time.

History Happenings:


This week in history we worked on our Voices Of Our Past podcasts which is a project where we chose a topic on Indigenous communities in Canada and example being A Day in the Life of an Indigenous Child Before European Contact. We are to write a 5-7 minute podcast and record it with a partner. We start recording next week.

Health & Fitness:


This week we finished our nutrition booklets which we can use to study  for our upcoming quiz  on nutrition. In this nutrition unit, we learned about the macronutrients which are fat, protein, vitamins and carbohydrates. We also learned about calories, sugar and nutrition labels.

#HClassBlog - "I lost so much money in the stock market game" - April 7, 2025

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Mason, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass24. I enjoy doing many things, like playing basketball, playing the piano and drawing. I am an extrovert and love hanging out with friends and family. The Rose: This week, we started a project called “Holiday or Holinay.” Everyone in our class gets a certain day to research holidays that are associated with it. Then we decide if it’s (A Holiday) or if it’s just pure trash (A HoliNay). Each student creates an engaging presentation with ridiculous sound effects to help us make the presentation more enchanting. For example, I have May 7 which is National Barrier Awareness Day. I would call that a HoliDAY because it is a time to recognize barriers that exist for people with disabilities. May 7 is also National Carnivorous Plant Day. #HClassBlog - The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street - January 28, 2026

  Hello everyone! My name is Mohammed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 6 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy swimming and food.  The Rose: Last week we watched an episode of “The Twilight Zone” called “The Monsters are due on Maple Street”. This episode of the 1960s television series is about people getting suspicious and paranoid when electric devices and radios stop working after a meteor passes overhead. We connected it to our discussion of critical thinking and making decisions without all the information. We also compare it to a poem called “Witch Hunt” by Neil Peart.  We had leftover chips from our class party, so we got to eat those too. The Thorn: Our fellow classmate Jana is moving.
