#HClassBlog - "What's a teetotaler, Mr. H?" - November 16, 2022
Quote of the week: "What's a teetotaler, Mr. H?" a question that was asked when the word came up in our read-aloud.
Introduction:
Hello all! My name is Satayish and I'm the one writing this week's class blog! I love to swim and play volleyball in my free time. I play with my family and friends, at school, at home...pretty much everywhere. I would go on and on about myself but I know you're a reader that’s interested in this blog! Enjoy!
The Rose:
I feel like there were numerous roses last week. One exciting rose is that last week, we confirmed our tickets to see Elf at the Grande Theatre in London! People were also excited that the strike had ended and we were back on track!
There were a few birthdays in the classroom - including E., T. and Y. (I'm just using their first initial to protect their identity) Two more to go and, boom, we will all be twelve-years-old.
The Thorn:
The thorn from last week was that one of our classmates, Tyler, is moving out of the city. We said "goodbye" to him on Friday at the end of the school day. He's going to stay in touch with us through social media and in Google Classroom.
The Bud:
I would say that the bud for the upcoming week is the volleyball intramural finals for the Red, Yellow, Blue and Green teams. Volleyball intramurals were made available to Grade 7 & 8 students who did not make the competitive volleyball team. It's been fun and the Grade 7s are building their skills to make the team in 2023.
Picture day retakes are also on the calendar. A bud for me is that my birthday will arrive!!
Literacy Learnings & Science Studies:
We continued reading the book Thirst, which is where we heard the word "teaetotaler" and got our quote of the week. We did some Lion Shapegrams and did some research on our favorite exotic animals and their biomes. I did the Giant Panda as my favorite animal because they are just the cutest animals on the earth, aside from cats and dogs. Did you know that pandas don’t only eat bamboo but they can eat more than that, including carrion and eggs. The Lion Shapegram was a mix of science and literacy. Here is my Slide, with the Panda I created in Google Draw.
