Week 12 - We're Back Baby!
Mr. Hodgkinson was away getting a surgery and we had Mr. Gagne as our guest teacher. Then, due to Covid outbreaks, we had many interruptions. So, we've missed a few weeks...but...we're back with a new blog.

Classroom Quote of the week: “So, the weather?” - The all famous quote by Soliman. All about me: HI! My name is Risi. I love donuts, cupcakes, chocolate, candy, and anything else that’s sweet! My favourite animal is a snake and my favourite colors are violet and blue.
“When you see them, look right through them.”
If you don’t add fuel to their fire, it goes out. We listened to this acoustic version by Jane Wieldlin but, as a class, we decided we liked the rocking version by the GoGo’s better.
The Best Thing About This Week (The Rose)Last week, we had access to Chromebooks everyday so nobody was behind on their work. We also had many students get level 5´s (a perfect week completing all tasks and assignments). The Worst Thing About This Week (The Thorn)Sadly, we had a few cases of Covid-19 diagnosed with students at our school. This caused some from our class to stay at home for the time being. We still have many students absent because they were concerned about the safety at the school.Mathematic Mentions
Last week, we continued learning about patterns and algebra. We explored the language of math - solidifying terms like sum, quotient and product.
We reviewed Order of Operations (BEDMAS)
We worked together to find the algebraic expression for real life mathematical situations. For example:
Roman’s Pizza Place is having a sale.
A pizza with cheese and tomato sauce costs $6.50. Each additional topping costs $1.35
Write an algebraic expression that could be used to determine the cost of the pizza with (t) as the variable for the number of toppings.
Can you solve it?

Our new read aloud is Freak the Mighty by Rodman Phillbrick.
Last week, we all chose a “positive” song. We had to write about the song, the author, our favorite line, and what message we think our song was about. At the end, we all had terrific writing and our writing was printed and pinned up on our wall. My song was Get Up, Stand Up by Bob Marley & The WailersThe Arts- print out a photo of a black and white image.
- trace it onto card stock.
- get a cassette tape and pull the tape out.
- glue the tape onto the image.
- use a hot glue gun to affix the cassette tape to give the illusion it is spilling out to create the image.
