Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Nishant, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing outside especially in the summer. Also, my favourite school subject other than gym is science. The Rose:  We had a great lesson from our Teacher Candidate (Student Teacher) Mr. Teixeira who is with us for four weeks from Nipissing University. His lesson was on POV (point of view). Throughout the week he taught us many lessons with care and effectiveness. Another lesson he introduced to us was Algebra, and we loved it.  Mr. Teixeira teaching us floor hockey last week. The Bud:  Our class is waiting for their Sweet Acts of Kindness Lollipops next week. The Sweet Acts of Kindness is a Grade 8 fundraiser that always takes place around Valentine’s Day. Students can purchase lollipops for friends, and they are delivered on February 25. This year the dollar we donated to Humana (a Non Government Organizat...

I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing soccer and socializing with friends! The Rose: We finally had a Carnaval! After 2 weeks of getting ready and learning about the annual Quebecois festival. We learned how the event will be run what rotations and the group assignments.  We had tons of fun and next year grade 6's will take our spot as  group leaders while we will become station leaders! The Thorn: On Friday we lost our access to Chromebooks b ecause some members of our class were making inappropriate choices with them. We talked as a class and plan to fix this when we return. The Bud: Next week we have a four day week because we have Monday off for Family Day.   Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Ahmed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7# student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy sports, video games, history and reading. The Rose: One of the best things this week at Sir Arthur Currie was Global School Play Day ( GSPD ) which we celebrated on February 4. GSPD is a day where we got to play all day. We were not allowed any screens or digital devices and encouraged to have a lot of fun. If you would like to learn more click this link . The Thorn: The worst thing this week at our school was the fact that we had barely any outdoor recesses which means the entire week we had to stay inside with minimal gym periods. GSPD helped to make it a little easier to not cause trouble in the classroom but it is only one day. The Bud: The thing we all are excited for is the Carnaval introduction next week. On Wednesday, we will have an assembly in the gym to find our teams. Meeting our groups and making a ...

Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Bilal, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy soccer and video games. The Rose: One of the best and exciting things last week  was 100% our school’s monthly  Character Trait Assembly. In January, the theme was  perseverance. Three classmates won the award - Maghfoor, Maddox and Mohammed. We also saw a great video about the many events and activities happening in the school during the month of January. The Thorn: Last week we didn’t even get to go outside once because of the cold and snowy weather. We were really sad because we couldn’t play outside in the snow with all of our friends. It was really cold - so, we understand it was for safety. However, it was still a thorn. The Bud: One of the things we are excited for next week is the Global School Play Day (GSPD).Global school play is an annual event where classes are encouraged to participate in...

Hello everyone! My name is Mohammed, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 6 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy swimming and food.  The Rose: Last week we watched an episode of “The Twilight Zone” called “The Monsters are due on Maple Street”. This episode of the 1960s television series is about people getting suspicious and paranoid when electric devices and radios stop working after a meteor passes overhead. We connected it to our discussion of critical thinking and making decisions without all the information. We also compare it to a poem called “Witch Hunt” by Neil Peart.  We had leftover chips from our class party, so we got to eat those too. The Thorn: Our fellow classmate Jana is moving. Her last day was Friday [That's sad].We wish her luck at her new school.  The Bud: We are excited to see our 60s “WandaVison” slides. Each week, we look at a different decade and, secretly, four students share a slide with information a...

"Shanty Be All" is a fun expression that many of us use to celebrate pretty much anything. It is based on the friendly nickname of a classmate, Nishant. He approves of it! Introduction:  Hello everyone! My name is Deyaa, and this week, I will be writing the blog for #HClass25. I am a Grade 7 student at Sir Arthur Currie and I enjoy playing sports and learning complex math. The Rose: One of the best things we had last week was a snow day! We had a snow day because we had about 20 - 25cm of snow, so we were able to stay home for the whole day, which gave us time to finish our work or play games. The Thorn: The worst thing that happened last week was actually the weather .It was super slushy and we couldn't play one of our favorite games, soccer, and had to stay on the tarmac during recess most of last week. Our field before the snow day came. The Bud: We are extremely excited about Maddox’s Oreo milkshake presentation which he is really proud about presenting. We've b...
