Classroom Quote of the week: "My toes are cracking” said Yara when her toes randomly cracked. Quote/Theme for the week This week Mr. Hodgkinson noticed that many of us are apologizing when he gives us feedback. He said that he is like a coach and a lot of coaches work with athletes who are much better at a sport than they are. Still, the coach gives them feedback and the athletes don't apologize, they learn from it to get better. In conclusion, we learned that we should not feel bad about the improvements he tells us to make. It's not what we did wrong...it's what we do next. Introduction ~ Hi, I am Anviksha, I love writing and I’m proud to present to you the first blog written by a student. I am the youngest person in our class, and my favourite subjects are math, science, history and literacy. The Rose ~ This week the “London Ice Cream Company” graciously gave everyone at our school a free scoop of smooth, creamy and delicious French vanilla ice cream! We all love...

Classroom Quote of the week: "I think we ate too many Pringles" - heard from a group working on their Pringle Challenge Quote/Theme for the week Introduction ~ This week, we wrote the blog as a class. We just finished the book Hank Zipzer: Niagara Falls, Or Does It? In it, the main character, Hank, struggles to write an essay; however, it is obvious to the reader that all the information is in his head. While the weather is good, we want to make the most of it. We started with a 1 km run to prepare for Cross-Country and then broke into groups. Some of us played basketball, some of us hit the playground equipment and some of us wandered beneath the sun socializing. Play is learning - Giving ourselves permission to be a little ridicu...

Classroom Quote of the week: "Push me like you hate me" - heard from Mariam on the swing-set Quote/Theme for the week Introduction ~ Hello, welcome back to the H Class Blog. This is the third year a blog has been running for Mr. Hodgkinson's Grade 7 class at Sir Arthur Currie Public School. I am Mr. Hodgkinson, and I will be the writer for the first few weeks. This week, I will write the blog and, over the next few weeks, we will compose it as a class. By early October, individual students will take over to share their perspective on our journey through the 2022/2023 school year. As with previous years, we will use the Rose, Bud and Thorn Check-in approach. The Rose ~ It was a short week (only three days long) but we packed so much into it. We got to know each other better through community circle games and conversations. We learned more about the routines and, fingers-crossed, we all felt like this might be a normal year. This class has not had a "regular school...
